  1. A  knife  fish  is  any  FISH of  the  genus
  2. Gymnotus  and allied genera of fishes, family
  3. Gymnotidae,  in which the body is deep at the
  4. front,  drawn  to a narrow or pointed tail at
  5. the    rear,   the   main   fin   being   the
  6. well-developed  long  ventral  that completes
  7. the knife-like shape.
